Announcing: Wrath Month

Bona Books, the UK’s newest queer small press, are furiously excited to announce the launch of the Kickstarter campaign for their second anthology, Wrath Month. The campaign blazed past its base goal in only 6 hours, surpassing £10,000 before the end of Day 1. Now, Bona Books is setting its sights on a series of ambitious stretch goals, including the launch of the UK’s first professional queer sci-fi/fantasy literary magazine.

Wrath Month comes hot on the heels of Bona Books’ gloriously successful debut, I Want That Twink OBLITERATED! (which Lightspeed Magazine called “queer fiction at its best”). This new collection seeks to unleash more speculative fiction from a cohort of radical queer writers. From vengeful lesbian witches to antifascist mutants and transfem superheroes, Wrath Month will channel the spirit of punk to tell stories of queer rage and resistance.

Wrath Month (the title a reference to the popular queer meme) will be testament to readers’ appetites for genuinely diverse speculative fiction from queer authors, and the anger they feel towards the real systems that seek to stifle these voices.

Wrath Month will feature contributions from:

  • Locus, Astounding, and Shirley Jackson Award winner Sam J Miller  ●  Lambda Award winner Roz Kaveney  ●  NYT Bestselling author Ryan Douglass  ●  Nommo winner Gabrielle Emem Harry  ●  Madrigal Gonzalez Best First Book Award winner Joel Donato Ching Jacob

  • Alongside: Choo Yi Feng, S.J. Groenewegen, Marianne Kirby, writing duo Maddison Stoff & Corey Jae White, and a number of new and exciting voices who will come to the project through the open story submission process.

From Spring 2026, Wrath Month will be available worldwide in print and ebook formats directly from the publisher at bona-books.com; in-person from independent and high-street booksellers across the UK, EU + USA  via Gardners Distribution; and through online channels.

In 2023, Bona Books’ debut Kickstarter smashed its way to success in just 32 hours. In summer 2024, advance copies of IWTTO! became the bestselling book of the World Science Fiction Convention in Glasgow. With Wrath Month, Bona Books is aiming to establish itself as the important new voice in UK queer publishing.
